What is blackjack 21+3?
It is important to note that the core of blackjack 21+3 is identical to the original game. This means that we do not see any changes or nuances, the game is, at its core, played in the traditional way. However, that plus three is there for a reason and that is because of the option to bet on the outcome of the game. This is based on the (first) three cards dealt by the dealer.
Interestingly, blackjack 21+3 borrows elements from poker, as you can bet on certain card combinations. By making such a bet, apart from the standard blackjack game win, you can also grab profits betting on these combinations. Of course, you would have to make the right bet. All in all, blackjack 21+3 gives you a double chance of winning per round of play.
How does blackjack 21+3 work?
As already noted, this game is played on a traditional blackjack basis, so nothing new there. The bet – also known as side-bet – that you can add is the additional element, which finds its basis in poker. The moment you place a side-bet, your two cards and the dealer’s first card are what count. If these together form a specific combination, then you can take profits from your bet.
Given it is poker-based, the following terms are recognizable in blackjack 21+3. The payouts are as follows, although variable by casino:
Flush:
If your cards and the dealer’s are equal in type (hearts, diamonds, clubs or spades), then you have a flush. The payout can be up to 5 times your bet.
Three of a kind:
Your cards and the dealer’s have the same value. The suit doesn’t matter in this one, so if a seven falls three times regardless of suit, then you have ‘Three of a Kind’. This can yield up to 30 times your bet. Some casinos offer an extra payout if the suit is also the same.
Straight:
The cards that are dealt must follow one another. In case you get a four and a five, and the dealer’s card is a six, then you have a straight. Any order is possible, from low to high. The payout can be up to 10 times your bet.
Straight Flush:
The chance of this one falling is very small, but it is one of the side-bets that can earn you a lot of profit. In this case, the cards are meant to follow up as a Straight and at the same time match as a Flush. In that case, the payout can be up to 40 times your bet.
Suited Trips:
The most lucrative side-bet. Here, the aim is to have three times the same suit and value. This could be, for example, three times seven of spades or three times six of diamonds. The suit and value do not matter, as long as the three are the same. In the case of Suited Trips, the payout can be up to 100 times the bet.

Playing blackjack 21+3 is a typical form of gambling, as it depends on how the cards are dealt. The chance of big wins is possible, but of course the risk of hefty losses is also present. So this makes it a slightly riskier variant of the game. Be aware that you can only place a side-bet if you also play along with the blackjack game itself.
