Like Craps, this game is played with dice, but it involves a different set-up. In this new How to Play, we dive deeper into Sic Bo so you know exactly how the game is played.

Betting on the outcome

The game of Sic Bo is played with three dice and the objective is simple: predict the outcome, whatever you gamble on. Because it is played with three dice, you have several betting options at your disposal. The options are as follows:

  • Small
  • Large
  • Double
  • Triple/random triple
  • Number
  • Two out of three

Again, the different betting options come with their own payouts and rules, which we will go into in more detail in a moment. Of course, the most important thing is how Sic Bo is played in basic terms, so we’ll look at that first.

How does Sic Bo work?

The croupier rolls three dice in each round and it’s up to you to predict what the outcome will be. Basically, that starts with even, odd or one of the other options mentioned earlier. The moment you bet on even, the hope is that the three dice together will form an even number. With odd, it is obviously the other way around.

The playing field on the table can be quite overwhelming, as almost every possible variation that can be thrown is indicated. However, it works quite easily, as it is a clear overview of where to place your bet. And once you have done that, the dice will be rolled and it is then fingers crossed that your prediction was correct.

Betting on even or odd is of course easy and minimises risk. As a result, the payout on success is not too high. That increases the moment you bet on the more specific betting options, as already mentioned. To paint a clear picture on that, we will now set out those options.

Small – Here you bet on a number between 4 and 10. This then applies to the three dice added together. The payout in this situation is at 1:1.

Large – Same as ‘Small’, but now you just bet on three dice that add up to a number between 11 and 17. The payout is identical.

Know that in both cases as described above, you lose the moment a triple falls, or three dice that are equal.

Double – Here you are betting on double tiles, where you have the option of double 1 to double 6. The odds for this are considerably lower and this is reflected immediately in the payout, which is 10:1 in this case.

Triple/random triple – Whereas a triple with the Small and Big actually causes losses, it is also a betting option with Sic Bo. It is simple, as you bet on the same number falling three times. You can bet on 1 to 6 here and given the odds are very small, the payout is sky-high. On success, it is at 180:1.

Number – In this case, you bet on a particular number and as the odds of numbers against each other vary, the payout is also variable. The chance of a 4 falling is a lot smaller than, say, 13, so the payout is 60:1 versus 8:1, respectively. So the smaller the chance of a particular number falling, the higher the payout is.

Two out of three – A fun variant where you bet on two out of three dice. Namely, you bet that two of the three dice will form a certain number and if you are right, the payout is 5:1.

Conclusion Sic Bo

And so you can see that Sic Bo is quite extensive thanks to its many different betting options, but never very complicated. The table might look a bit overwhelming at first, but in the end it’s not too bad in practice. This makes Sic Bo a casino game with a low entry threshold that is particularly popular in Asia, but is also gaining ground here als thanks to the offer in Mobile Wins Casino.
